How to Lace Vans
Lacing your vans sounds like such an easy thing to do, but if you don't do it often, you can forget what goes there or how exactly you did it before. And we are here to remind you. In this article we offer you three ways to lace your shoes: the traditional way, bar lacing, and swag lacing. All the methods are pretty simple, you just have to follow instructions given below.
The traditional way
Place your shoe string in the two lowest eyelets so they form a bar and go inwards. Cross shoe string ends and pull each one in its next eyelet. Now the ends go outwards. Cross the ends again, and pull them through their next eyelets so they go inwards again. Make sure they are not twisted. Keep doing that till you are done. Do the other shoe.
Bar lacing your vans
Place your shoe lace in the two lowest eyelets so they form a bar and go inwards. Pull the left lace end through its next eyelet (right above it, not across). Pull the other lace end through the next eyelet but one (don’t forget to skip one eyelet, it’s important). Take the left lace end and pull it through that skipped eyelet. Now you’ve got two bars. Pull the right shoe lace through the left eyelet – you got a third bar. Right lace - in its next eyelet, then – in the left eyelet to make a fourth bar. Take the other shoe lace and pull it through the opposite eyelet, then – through the other side outlet to get the last bar.
Swag lacing your vans
Place your shoe string in the two lowest eyelets so they form a bar and go inwards. Cross shoe string ends and pull each one in its next eyelet. Now the ends go outwards. Place the right-hand lace in the opposite eyelet (above the other shoe lace) it should go outwards, not inwards. Insert the left lace end in the next right hand eyelet so it is pointed outwards too. Keep lacing your vans that way till you are out of the eyelets.
- Don't forget to straighten out your shoe laces so they are not twisted.
- Don't re-lace your shoes if your shoe laces aren't perfectly clean - one you re-lace them it will be very noticeable.
- Don't hurry. Take your time lacing shoes, make sure you do everything right.
If your shoe laces are old, you need to get new ones, otherwise there is no point in trying to make them look pretty, and lacing them other way won't help. It is better to get shoe laces that keep in tone either with the shoes or their rubber bottom.
