How to Dry up Breast Milk


Breastfeeding is one of the problems young moms have to face with. Some women donít want to breastfeed at all because they are worried about the shape of their breasts and stretch marks. Ibuprofen and its analogues reduce inflammatory processes in your body. Consult with your doctor to choose the right drugs.


If you have constant problems with lactation, talk to your doctor about bromocriptine. It has severe side effects and isnít recommended unless you have serious problems.


Again, drying up your breast milk is not the type of problems that you want to solve using drugs. However, in some cases estrogen injections can still be an option.

Donít pump

Your body doesnít understand the difference between breastfeeding and pumping. If it receives the signal, it interprets it as the necessity of producing more milk.

Stop nipple stimulation

Again, your body considers nipple stimulation as a signal for producing more milk. Wear snug fitting bras, loose clothes, and nursing pads.

Donít believe in myths

There are lots of myths associated with drying up breast milk. For example, many women believe that drinking less will help them dry up. Thatís not true Ė thereís no way the restriction of water intake can stop your body from producing milk.
